Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Game Utsav ("Game Utsav", "we", "us") collects and uses your personal data when you use Game Utsav. We process personal data in accordance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") and other applicable laws. We act as the Data Fiduciary for your personal data.

1. What we collect

• Account details (only if you create an account): display name, email address, and a password, which we store only in hashed form, never as plain text. We also record that you confirmed you are 18+ and accepted our Terms, with the date.
• Gameplay data: scores you save, the game played, and when. Your display name and best scores appear publicly on leaderboards.
• Session and security data: a sign-in session token, and your IP address and browser type attached to that session, used to keep your account secure.
• Grievances and support requests: the name, email and message you send us.
• Payment data (when subscriptions launch): handled by our payment provider. We receive the subscription status and a payment reference, not your full card or bank details.
• On your device only: your best score per game ("best on this device") and, for guests, the last run you may want to save after signing in. These stay in your browser's storage and are not sent to us unless you save a score. The anonymous visitor ID mentioned below also lives here.

Guests can play without an account. We then keep only an anonymous play record for security and to understand how the site is used: the game, the time, a random anonymous visitor ID stored in your browser, a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address that cannot be turned back into the address, and the device type. These records are deleted after 90 days.

2. Why we use it

• To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
• To show leaderboards, your profile stats and personal bests.
• To detect cheating, abuse and security incidents (for example, rate limiting).
• To respond to grievances and support requests.
• To manage subscriptions and billing, when available.
• To meet our legal obligations.

We rely on your consent, given when you create an account, and on legitimate uses permitted by the DPDP Act. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising profiles.

3. Children

Accounts are only for people aged 18 or over. Anyone under 18 may play as a guest, and in that case no account or personal data is collected. If you believe a child has created an account, contact our Grievance Officer and we will delete it.

4. Cookies and local storage

We use only essential cookies: a session cookie that keeps you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. Local browser storage holds your on-device bests as described above.

5. Sharing

We share personal data only with:

• service providers that host and run Game Utsav (for example, hosting and database providers);
• our payment provider, when you subscribe;
• authorities, when the law requires it.

These providers may only use your data to provide their service to us.

6. How long we keep it

We keep account and gameplay data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, sessions and scores. Billing records are kept for as long as tax law requires. Grievance records are kept for as long as needed to resolve them and meet legal obligations.

7. Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you can:

• Access your data: use "Download my data" on your profile.
• Correct it: contact us.
• Erase it and withdraw consent: use "Delete account" on your profile.
• Raise a grievance through our grievance page. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
• Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you in the event of death or incapacity, by contacting us.

8. Security

Passwords are hashed. Sessions use secure, HTTP-only cookies, and all traffic is served over HTTPS in production. Access to the database is restricted. If a personal data breach occurs, we will notify affected users and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
